CRI is a charitable organization that provides a framework for response and resources to a disaster situation in otherwise off-limit areas to volunteers. Our tactics avoid what the government calls “the second disaster" - when spontaneous resources and untrained volunteers arrive on scene.
CRI is a disaster relief organization that has the ability to integrate into local, state and federal response efforts through our relationships with both community and state level volunteer organizations active in disaster. In the event of a disaster, CRI can assimilate into the Incident Command System (ICS) according to the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Working then from an established field command post alongside other various organizations, CRI manages operations, resources and personnel to carryout various tasks and services. Tactics vary upon the size and scope of the disaster.
- Establish working relationships with local, state and federal authorities as we integrate into response plans.
- Collaborate with other community and volunteer organizations active in disaster (COAD / VOAD).
- Continue to train and certify volunteers forming new Crisis Response Units (CRUs) across the country.
- Develop incident action plans for cities and regions in the event of a major disaster
