A Deeply Political Statement

Perspective for Our Troubled Times

As I write, the 27th named storm of 2020 is approaching Louisiana, making it the third Hurricane in a row to hit the same region. Injustice and racial wounds are being exploited, causing looting and unrest to boil again. Governors have reduced law enforcement in the most crime-ridden cities in our nation. Just days away from the most contested election in history, our country is as polarized as the North Pole is from the South. Meanwhile, pandemic cases are spiking around the world.

What is more alarming is the outright suppression of freedoms and truth. Growing trends of censorship are becoming norms as a battle ensues over the narrative of the day. How do we come back from this?

My point is not to fatigue you further, but rather to give you hope. In actuality… this is just the beginning.

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and Kingdom against Kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. Matthew 24: 6-8

As crisis and conflict increase upon the earth, both sin and righteousness will come into full maturity. In the midst of this, we must understand that we yet have work to do. We have to see beyond the headlines of the day and our present fog of war. This is about a great harvest that we all must play a part.

… “The Kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”‘” Matthew 24: 13-30

Be encouraged.

A global harvest is coming. The enemy and those aligned with him will do anything to stop it! Deception is at levels we have never seen, and the compromised are buying in.

And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. John 3:19-20

The masses are doubling down in lawlessness as they give themselves over to strong delusion. We must understand as we look around that we war not against flesh and blood, but it is a spirit. It’s territorial, and you better believe it is political.

There is a concerted effort to root out all forms of Godliness in the public square – legislating wickedness as The Prince of This World “white knuckles” his grasp on power.

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” Psalm 2: 1-3

In this hour, my prayer is that deep corruption is exposed, our constitution is defended and we have sweeping reformation of immoral laws. We need to become “one nation under God” again. We need to stand for this, pray for this, and yes, we need to vote for this. Our nation is on the brink.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2: 1-4

If our nation slips over the cliff, then so does the nations of the earth.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

As followers of Jesus, we have to elect and support leaders who will defend faith, family, the rule of law, life itself, and our constitution. It is expedient for us to do so, or we will see our nation spin out of control. Right now, we have an opportunity to reel in the thread of morality that has been slowly unwound in our democracy for decades. We are in desperate need of reformation and revival.

As John Adams once said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

As much as we all want peace right now, our hope is not anchored in America or anything temporal. Everything that can be shaken… will be shaken.

… “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken,… Hebrews 12:27-28

Two kingdoms are colliding, and the intensity is escalating. King Jesus eventually comes and crushes his foes and gains the entire world as His inheritance, reaping the rewards of His sufferings just as His Father promised Him. However, there is much to unfold between then and now.

Let me remind you. As much as global stability hinges on America, we are not the “center stage” for end-time events. Israel is. At some point, the world will endure global chaos and crisis before Jesus is enthroned in Jerusalem.

He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Psalm 2:4-12

Again I stress, the drama is just beginning. Although the Lord allows Satan to achieve specific goals – God will use measured discipline for those who will not concede any other way before He metes out final punishment upon His adversaries.

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called God or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Timothy 2:1-12

We must go deep, so we can endure what is coming.

Both Matthew 13 and 24 give strong warning that many will fall away during a time of persecution upon the earth.

As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. Matthew 13:20-21

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. Matthew 24:9-12

Even if a time of temporary peace comes to America, even greater trouble is just around the corner. There are leaders and policymakers right now in the U.S. If they had their way, we would see an all-out onslaught against The Church and religious freedoms. This election is critical. We must get ourselves rooted and grounded in God’s love and His word.

Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; Hebrews 12:11-15

I know we are all fatigued and ache for leadership that will make our troubles go away. However, we have great need of endurance and keep our eyes on the ball. We must stay engaged with the works of the Kingdom no matter what the enemy throws our way. Many have endured set-back after set-back against trial after trial. My friend, stay steadfast. You will reap the reward in due time.

But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the Kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24: 13-14

Did you hear that?

The bible is clear that the greatest and most politically controversial message will go forth before the coming of the Lord. This is not a message about “mice and men,” nor about a democracy and a republic. It is also more than the message of salvation (as great as that is).

In the time of greatest upheaval and persecution, the message of the coming theocracy of King Jesus’s and His righteous rule and reign from Jerusalem will go to the ends of the earth as a witness to all mankind. As a matter of fact, the rage of the rebellious in response to the threat of the Jewish God-man Jesus will draw the nations into the fiercest conflict we ever knew. This is a deeply political statement.

We will partner with the great and final harvest.

The King of Kings and Lord of Lords is coming back not as a lamb but as a lion. He will exact justice to every people, tongue, and tribe. For the righteous, we will rule with Him and join into the greatest rebuilding phase the earth has ever seen.
