Daily Situation Report

UPDATE #22

Here, we recap Days 1 – 31 of our crisis response efforts in Southern California following the devastating wildfires that have left thousands of structures destroyed and families in shock.

From sifting through ashes to recover precious keepsakes like wedding rings, war medals, and handmade pottery to offering prayers and emotional support, we’re on a mission to bring hope and healing to a community in crisis.

Here is our measured impact so far:

  • 36 responders deployed
  • 103 local volunteers
  • item recovery completed for 60 families
  • multiple clean up projects for perimeter homes
  • $178,000 impact value
  • Ministered to over 900 people

UPDATE #3

Our initial assessment team has been on the ground for three days now, sorting out logistics for our incoming responders, making local connections, and assessing the needs in multiple parts of the Los Angeles area.

The unique challenges of multiple fires in a sprawling metropolis on lockdown make every step forward slower than expected. Every day, we communicate and connect with dozens of contacts at local churches and organizations to understand what shape the mission is taking here in L.A.
On Sunday, Jan 12th, Sean and Ferrin went to worship at The Gathering Place, where Dr. Mike Hutchings was present and preached healing methods for PTSD. Pastor Rick Wright and the church expressed interest in partnering for relief efforts, noting that many members are already trained to assist.

Early in the afternoon, we met with Mondo from Ekballo at Che Ahn’s campus of Harvest Rock, where we discussed lodging and serving opportunities near the Eaton fire.
God continues to meet us with humor and encouragement as we listen to his direction.

UPDATE #2

Today, assessments were conducted in the Altadena area, followed by the Palisades region, where they connected with homeowners anxiously waiting to check on their homes.

Access to impacted areas remains tightly restricted to protect property and honor those who may have been lost. In the meantime, we are exploring ways to support the first responders who are working tirelessly on the front lines.

CRI will continue collaborating with local groups and organizations to maximize our impact in the Palisades area.

We’re calling on our dedicated responders and chaplains to register and stand by as we prepare for this mission to serve the Los Angeles community.

We will allow Responders to deploy as soon as possible once housing becomes available for our responders.

UPDATE #1

Crisis Response International (CRI) has mobilized and is now on the ground in Los Angeles, California. Our dedicated assessment team is actively engaged in surveying the area by conducting thorough assessments to understand the scope of the crisis and the community’s immediate needs. We are Identifying community needs by engaging directly with residents to pinpoint critical areas where aid can have the most significant impact, from ash-outs to basic necessities.

Today, we will be building partnerships with local ministries and organizations to ensure our efforts complement existing initiatives and resources. Sean Malone, our founder, shares insights on how we are gearing up for the first wave of responders. This initial group is poised to address the urgent requirements identified during our assessments, bringing hope, aid, and support where it is needed most. Partner with us in this critical mission as we work together to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected in Los Angeles.
