UPDATE #22

Here, we recap Days 1 – 31 of our crisis response efforts in Southern California following the devastating wildfires that have left thousands of structures destroyed and families in shock.

From sifting through ashes to recover precious keepsakes like wedding rings, war medals, and handmade pottery to offering prayers and emotional support, we’re on a mission to bring hope and healing to a community in crisis.

Here is our measured impact so far:

  • 36 responders deployed
  • 103 local volunteers
  • item recovery completed for 60 families
  • multiple clean up projects for perimeter homes
  • $178,000 impact value
  • Ministered to over 900 people

UPDATE #6

Today, we had the privilege of reconnecting with our old friends from Shekinah Worship Center in Lancaster, CA. It’s amazing how they’ve once again played a crucial role in our relief efforts. They’ve been instrumental in supporting our response efforts, particularly during the Asheville hurricane deployment for Hurricane Helene, which is now once more in their own backyard.

They arrived with a truckload of essential supplies, including rakes, brooms, shovels, and specially designed ash-out kits. These kits are crucial for beginning the ash-out process in areas affected by recent fires or similar disasters.

These kits are not just about clearing debris but also about recovery and hope. They help our teams sift through ashes to recover precious items like wedding rings and keepsakes, providing emotional support to affected families. As soon as neighborhoods are accessible, we’re set to begin the cleanup and recovery process, bringing the love of God and hope to those in need.

We sincerely thank John, Mellinda, and Pastor Joe of Shekinah Worship Center for their partnership. Their contribution has been a huge encouragement and a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together.

UPDATE #5

Today, Crisis Response International is on the ground in Sierra Madre, setting up a base camp to serve families impacted by the devastating fires. Many are in shock and facing diverse needs—cleanup, ash-outs, replacing refrigerators for those who just lost power and had to evacuate, or those who need furniture in temporary housing.

We are mobilizing volunteers and resources to bring hope and relief. Areas will open soon, and we’re preparing to scale up as the needs increase.

UPDATE #4

Ferrin Cole and Sean are witnessing the aftermath of the devastating fires in Altadena and the Palisades. Seeing the impact on these communities is heartbreaking, but we’ve been hard at work assessing needs and preparing to bring hope and relief.

Here’s what we’re doing:
– Connecting with the Community: Building relationships and identifying the most urgent needs.
– Providing Immediate Relief: Partnering with Chick-fil-A to serve meals—120 people and counting.
– Ash-Out Operations: Preparing to assist homeowners with cleanup, offering both physical help and spiritual support.
– Resource Needs: We urgently need PPE (shovels, Tyvek suits, goggles, gloves) to carry out cleanup efforts safely under strict California regulations.

On the Ground: Responding to a Historic Event

Crisis Response International has teamed up with Christ Church Sierra Madre and Victory Church to assist the communities of Sierra Madre, Altadena, and Pasadena in southern California following the Eaton Fire.

Our team is actively engaged in the affected areas, executing work orders that include ash-outs, distributing air purifiers, and addressing urgent needs while offering spiritual and emotional support to families.
